Bedroom Girls - FreeMusic

Inventing a new style of music is the same thing as trying to re-write history. There are obvious established events that have affected everything that has happened after them. The only thing that can be done is to shape the future with the things we have seen, heard, and learned. The October is working toward accomplishing that musical feat.

The October’s debut, Push Me Off the Side of the Earth, is a portal that takes you back to some of the greatest moments of Brit Rock (think Echo and the Bunnymen and Oasis) and 80’s New Wave (remembering classic U2 & the Church.) Since its release in June of 2004 it has been creating a buzz all over the world with its echoing guitars, danceable beats, and huge, melodic choruses.

“The October could beat Coldplay in a song-to-song cage match,” says rock music zine firesideometer.com.

The October’s members, front man Dustin Burnett, guitarist James Lindsey, bassist Matt Wiley, and drummer Aaron Spraggs, all hail from small cities in IL & KY near the town of Metropolis, IL. Since they began touring in August, the foursome have played venues like L.A.’s Viper Room and New York City’s Rothko for the CMJ artist showcase in New York City, NY. The October was a part of the 2005 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT, playing alongside …and You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead and Midnight Movies. Their song "Leaving Day" was recently used in the spring season of MTV's Real World-Road Rules Inferno II.

“Seductive live performances & emotional lyrics.” - CMJ

If the October keeps moving at this rate, this young band will surely be a part of a new movement that is shaping the future of rock music.
